Who else finds sweater weather to be the best thing ever? I hope I'm not alone in this, because I do have to say I love fall, I love autumn, I love the colors. However, the transition can also be a bit difficult for me as the nights begin to get longer. Listen in for some great self-care tips to try this fall and make the process easier on yourself. Hello, and thank you for tuning in today to Dear Mommy. This party is just getting started, the place where you will find self-care, peaceful and fun parenting and wellness resources at your fingertips. Let's dive in Gosh.
Speaker 1:Everyone loves summer, as it is a time for vacationing and lots of outdoor fun with family and friends. Yet when fall rolls around the corner, things can get busier and chaotic, with back to school routines and with nights that seem to begin at 4 pm. So it is easy to feel like the day went by too fast and with no time to dedicate to some rest and relaxation. Here are some of the things that I love to engage in for my own well-being and self-care during the fall months. Self-care tip number one Rise with the sun. This helps you get the most out of the day. Try to get some quiet alone time before everyone else wakes up. I know for those of you that are not morning people like me, you will find this time a bit difficult in the beginning, but also rewarding when you get used to it.
Speaker 1:Self-care tip number two Continue to get manicures and pedicures. I know this can often be overlooked because it typically becomes boot weather and cozy layers of style, but doing something that makes you feel pretty is a must. Give up the things that make you feel good about yourself If getting mani-pedis every so often, every two to three weeks or every month. Continue to do those things. Do the things that make you feel pretty, no matter what the season. And extra brownie points if you try fall colors for your manicures. Get creative with the beautiful autumn colors available. No need to break the bank. Go ahead and take 30 minutes a week to do this for yourself in your home. Make it fun and invite your friends over to do mani-pedis for each other. Or if your kids love doing that with you, then engage them in that as well. Self-care tip number three Over a weekend, bake one thing that brings you sense of good memories from your past.
Speaker 1:I love boiling cinnamon sticks during this time and making chocolate de vuolita in cooler weather, as it brings back memories of enjoying lifetime movies with my parents and brother while drinking hot chocolate and cozying up with blankets together in the living room. Tell these stories of your past to your children and repeat these experiences for them to have similar memories when they grow up. The sense that you create in your home will bring back those memories and it will bring future memories to your children. Self-care. Tip number four Go get a fall makeup.
Speaker 1:Look at one of the counters at Nordstrom's or simply have a beauty expert help you pick out a new lip color. I love to do this for myself with each new season. It is so fun and adds for a little bit of change in your life. So schedule your visit today or just simply walk in and ask to try on different lip colors for the season and feel beautiful while doing so. Last but not least, schedule a dinner out with a friend you haven't seen in a while and try a new restaurant and list the help of your partner and, if you're single, and list the help of a trusted member of your family to babysit for you. If these options are not available to you, try ordering takeout and meeting a friend over Zoom.
Speaker 1:The importance is to connect with someone you care about and to chat. It's easy to lose sight of our friendships when we are in mom mode and, before you know it, you realize you haven't seen your bestie in almost a year. So go ahead, take out your calendar, call up your friend and schedule something today. So there you have it. Remember my fellow mom.
